There are many bizarre phenomena we have come to accept as "normal" in our daily lives.
Tennis shoes hanging from telephone poles. (Who does that? Why waste a pair of shoes?)
Raised heavy-duty trucks. (I'm sure it makes a huge difference)
Couches in the right lane of the highway. (Who's leaving them there and why?)
Today I noticed another one that struck me as even odder than the aforementioned. The black sock in the middle of the road. I can't tell you how many times I have seen it. And I always think it's some small dead animal as I approach it and then I heave a sigh of relief - just a black sock. And always black. If it weren't, I'd probably know it was a sock.
Is there a sock truck driving around the country with the lid off a tub of free-flowing black socks? Why is this a commonplace thing? Why aren't more people wondering about this?
